Bulgarian spectral database of painting materials is a tool for storing vibrational spectra and additional information of three type object class - reference materials (R), reference mixtures (M) and genuine art materials that were used as decoration of artistic and archeological objects located in the territory of Bulgaria (S). All spectra are interactive and could be downloaded also in text format which allows opening in any text editor.
The database contains spectra of reference materials (R) classified in several subtypes as: pigments (P), dyes (RD), resins (RR), proteins (RP), waxes (RW), carbohydrates (RC), oils (RO), additives (A), fillers (F) and real investigated samples (S) of Bulgarian-related archaeological and artistic objects. Information is provided in English and Bulgarian.
The system has been developed for searching within all the available text data and displaying the results according to different criteria: name, color, CAS number, C.I. number, type of the sample (reference (R) or real sample (S)), subtype, color, origin, etc.
The database was created in collaboration between the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry and National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the National Art Academy, Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohidski”, and Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany with the financial support of National Science Fund of Bulgaria. The database is open for further update.
